Grapperia Nardini in Bassano del Grappa

The experience

The historic headquarters of Grapperia Nardini, founded by Bortolo Nardini in 1779, is located near Bassano del Grappa’s famous Palladian bridge. Once you enter the historic venue, it is as if you are thrown into the past, into a place unchanged by time. Bortolo Nardini, was born in 1739 in the Cembra Valley. The son of a distiller (at the time distillers moved from house to house), he decided to take up the profession as well, pushing on to Bassano del Grappa where, at age 40, he opened his distillery, where the Osteria Ponte was located.
Nowadays, in downtown Bassano, only the historic building remains while the distillery has moved further out to the suburbs. Two glass bubbles, made in 2004 to celebrate 225 years by architect Massimiliano Fuksas, are also located here. Today they are research spaces.
Only by reservation, the Nardini Classico tour (lasting about 1 hour) and the Nardini Selezione tour (lasting about 1 1/2 hours) can be taken. In both cases, in addition to a visit to the historic premises of Grapperia Nardini with tasting of the Distillery’s iconic products, spirits will be paired. In the second case, the spirits will be from the “Bortolo Nardini” selection and will be paired with local cheeses. The maximum number of people is 20 in the first tour and 10 in the second tour. In both cases, the visit is by reservation only.
The Palladian Bridge in Bassano del Grappa is also known as the Bridge of the Alpini and is a national monument. The name was given in 1928 to commemorate the hundreds of thousands of soldiers who passed through here to give their lives for the Fatherland on the nearby Sette Comuni plateau.
Another activity that could be held as a result of the grapperia visit is participation in a rehearsal session of the Bassano Alpine Choir. Here you can learn and sing with them some typical songs such as the famous Sul ponte di Bassano.
