Lessinia, a mountainous area in the Upper Veronese region, has been a land of migrations but also rich in traditions. In some villages for example, traces of Cimbrian, a language spoken in the highlands of Veneto and Trentino until the Great War, have been preserved.

The existing museum was renovated with a LAG project and preserves objects and photographic documentation of the activities, customs and traditions of the mountain people: animal husbandry, mountain pasturing, weaving, milk, charcoal and ice production (the area with its Giassare was one of the largest ice producers in Italy).

New is the opening of a temporary exhibition on emigration and “returns,” with a series of events and educational activities for children. The topics covered will be:

  • Grandparents’ school
  • The processing of wool
  • Construction of Games with Poor Materials”
  • Conferences on emigration and the possibility of returning
